About MSME (Udyam) registration
Udyam registration is the government's online registration for micro, small and medium enterprises. It is done on the official Udyam portal, is free of cost, and gives a permanent Udyam Registration Number and certificate. It is linked to your PAN and GST, and turnover and investment data are picked up from these records.
Classification depends on investment in plant and machinery or equipment and on turnover. Currently a micro enterprise has investment up to Rs 2.5 crore and turnover up to Rs 10 crore, a small enterprise up to Rs 25 crore and Rs 100 crore, and a medium enterprise up to Rs 125 crore and Rs 500 crore. Limits are set by the government and may change.

- Main business activity (NIC code) and number of employees
- Investment in plant, machinery or equipment and turnover details
