About Income tax notice reply

Income tax notices come in many forms. An intimation about a mismatch or a demand after processing your return, a notice that the return is defective, a request for information, a scrutiny notice, or a notice to reopen a past year. Each one has a time limit and must be answered on the e-filing portal.

Notices for years up to AY 2026-27 are dealt with under the Income-tax Act, 1961, and the new Act, 2025 will apply from 2026-27. We identify the notice type, check the portal for the details and deadlines, and prepare the response with supporting evidence.
